OTTAWA - BARRHAVEN MILITARY, POLICE, FIRST RESPONDER PROFESSIONALS EVALUATION AND PSYCHOTHERAPY

person

Military, police, corrections fire service, security and other emergency services personnel regularly experience severe stress, human tragedy and often are exposed to life threatening events. Such occupational duties can lead to disorders of extreme stress. I have extensive experience working directly in both policing as well as correctional service environments along with extensive evaluation and treatment experience with police, military, correctional and other first responder professionals. In addition I have undertaken training through and have a clinical affiliation with the wounded warriors program.

In my experience first responder professionals as a result of exposure to the hazardous aspects of their professional duties are frequently exposed to significant levels of toxic stress as well as direct and indirect exposure to often severe traumatic events. Such exposure can lead to the development of personal as well as career de-railing psychological, emotional, relational and performance based symptoms and clinical syndromes. In my practice I regularly see first responder professionals struggling with a number of major clinical issues, including but not limited to:
